What you'll do
- Own and champion overall product quality, defining QA strategy, testing standards, and acceptance criteria in close partnership with Product and Engineering.
- AI‑first QA enablement: Act as an AI advocate within QA - leveraging AI tools day‑to‑day to accelerate test design, improve coverage, automate repetitive workflows (e.g. test generation/maintenance, triage, reporting), and streamline QA operations and release readiness.
- Lead, coach, and develop the QA function, providing day‑to‑day people management, mentoring, and performance oversight while building a high‑impact, quality‑first team.
- Act as a senior quality and release owner within the Agile process, collaborating across planning, delivery, and release cycles to ensure predictable, high‑quality outcomes.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable automated testing frameworks, complemented by strong manual testing practices for complex, high‑risk, and user‑critical flows.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying QA process bottlenecks, reviewing end‑to‑end customer journeys and UI consistency, and embedding best‑practice testing into a product‑minded engineering culture.
Your background
- First and foremost, a great attitude. We’re pioneering on new frontiers. You’ve got the right attitude towards a sense of urgency, risk and uncertainty about the future that comes with working at an early-stage scale-up. You’ll be self-managing, self-motivated. This is an opportunity to be involved in an exciting journey and be a core foundational member of engineering at OutThink.
- Proven academic or other excellence. You have a strong educational foundation and can demonstrate a track record of exceptional performance - whether that be academics, sport, professional, or another domain of interest. Ideally, you have a degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other numerate or semi-numerate discipline.
- Senior QA & automation experience. 10+ years’ experience in QA within agile, cross‑functional teams building digital (preferably SaaS) products, with a strong track record across both automated and manual testing. Hands‑on experience designing and scaling test automation frameworks (e.g. Selenium or equivalent), alongside rigorous manual testing, test planning, execution, and reporting.
- Applied AI in QA: Demonstrated, hands‑on experience using AI to improve QA outcomes (e.g., boosting automation throughput, reducing manual effort, improving defect triage and root‑cause speed, enhancing test coverage/quality signals) and a clear point of view on where AI adds value vs. risk in the testing lifecycle.
- Quality, release, and delivery mindset. Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, release approval processes, and quality gates, with practical experience defining acceptance criteria and contributing to predictable, high‑quality releases. Strong grasp of BDD/TDD principles and unit, integration, and end‑to‑end testing strategies.
- People leadership experience. Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing QA engineers, setting clear expectations, raising quality standards, and fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Product‑minded and collaborative. Comfortable partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and DevOps to balance speed and quality, challenge constructively, and drive decisions to closure in a pragmatic, low‑bureaucracy environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with fluency in English suitable for a distributed, largely asynchronous team.
