Lisbon/London – January 19 2022 – NTT DATA, a global business and technology consultancy company that reinvents and transforms organizations through innovation, and OutThink, a global leader in human risk management solutions, have just established a partnership to make employees the main cybersecurity agent for organizations.
The agreement begins in Portugal and aims at its progressive expansion to other European countries.
Recent data (ICO – Information Commissioner’s Office) reveals that 90% of data breaches in organizations are caused by human error; 71% of identified malware is delivered by employees, and 84% of cyberattacks start with social engineering initiatives, which take advantage of people’s ingenuity and routine to carry out attacks.
These are indicators that reveal the importance of transforming employees into the main cybersecurity agent in order to reduce the volume and severity of attacks.
OutThink provides a human risk management platform which allows organizations to identify the level of computer risk of employees, depending on their responsibilities and daily work. This capability offers institutions the possibility of segmenting risk profiles, as well as having a holistic and integrated overview of the skills and security needs of the entire organization.
This practice makes it possible to adjust the level of security of the institutions depending on the knowledge and responsibilities of each employee, as well as providing content and training adapted to the profile of each individual and the level of risk that each employee represents for the organization.
By facilitating the individualization and personalization of training content, organizations abandon the one-size-fits-all model, which has proven ineffective in terms of cybersecurity, while at the same time managing to increase collective awareness of computer security, reducing bad practices and decreasing the risk.
Mauro Almeida, Head of Cybersecurity at NTT DATA Portugal, reveals that he is “very pleased to be able to announce this partnership with OutThink, which is a recognized company providing cybersecurity services, with a very innovative approach with regard to awareness and training of employees on these matters. It uses gamification and social experience features to promote knowledge and engagement. We believe that, with this partnership, we have greatly enriched our value proposition and our ability to transform the collective awareness and knowledge of organizations in terms of cybersecurity.”
In turn, Flavius Plesu, Founder and CEO of OutThink, says “As a former CISO, I believe that security awareness must align employee behaviour with the business and security goals of the organization. We provide clients with the next-generation of security awareness platform to effectively turn people into human sensors for cyber security and empower them to become the strongest defence mechanism of the organization. To be successful in any market, it is key to align with local specialist partners who understand both our technology and the local customer needs.
We are delighted to be partnering with NTT DATA Portugal who will now further extend our reach into the Portugal market and progressively to other European countries.”
